Climate Change Debate in the Czech Republic, Youth Forum

The British-Czech Forum „Climate Change – Responsibility of the Generations”, organized by the British Council in co-operation with the British Embassy in Prague and ENVIROS, Prague, took place in Prague’s Hotel Dorint on April 11, 2007.

The Forum was particularly focused on the high school and university students with relevant educational background. The goal of the action was, above all, to raise awareness of global warming issue, solve impacts that affect our lives and propose a solution of these impacts.

The conference was opened by the British Deputy Prime Minister Mr John Prescott with Mr Ondrej Liska, Deputy Chairman of the Green Party and Mrs Mandy Johnson, Managing Director of the British Council in Prague. The Forum was divided into blocks and the speeches were made by Czech and British experts and students.

In conclusion, the student deputies drew up the Official Statement (PDF [17 kB]), which will be presented at the follow-up Conference on Industry and Climate Change Mitigation to take place in Hotel Mövenpick, Prague, on April 23, 2007.
