ENVIROS has successfully completed BREEAM In-Use, Part 1 certification at the “Excellent” level for the Classic 7 and Classic L buildings, which are operated by AFI Czech Republic.
The Classic 7 office complex in Prague’s Holešovice neighborhood is an interesting example of how industrial history can be integrated with modern office spaces. A prominent feature of the complex is the historically protected building of a former steam mill dating from 1911, which has undergone a sensitive renovation.
The Classic 7 building consists of two renovated, historically protected buildings connected by a modern extension built in 2008. The complex also includes Classic L, a modern office building that expanded the complex in 2012.
Historic Architecture and Contemporary Sustainability Requirements
Achieving a BREEAM In-Use Excellent rating demonstrates that even industrial architecture over a century old and designated as a historic landmark can, with a sensitive approach, meet high standards for sustainability, energy efficiency, and building operational quality.
BREEAM In-Use certification is designed for existing and occupied buildings and assesses their environmental quality and sustainability. For Classic 7 and Classic L, certification was completed under Part 1, which focuses on the characteristics of the buildings themselves.
Classic 7 thus serves as an example of how the historical value of industrial heritage can be combined with modern and sustainable operations.
