The ENVIROS project for Prague Public Transport Company won first place in the EPC Project of the Year competition.

ENVIROS, a member of KB Group, played a significant role in preparing the winning project for the 15th anniversary edition of the competition for the best-prepared EPC project in the Czech Republic, which is announced annually by the Association of Energy Service Providers (APES). First place went to the energy modernization project for the Prague Public Transport Company’s facilities, with an investment exceeding CZK 900 million.

The winning project is one of the most extensive and technologically complex EPC projects in the public sector in the Czech Republic. It includes four key premises of the Prague Public Transport Company – the Central Dispatch Center, the Střešovice and Pankrác depots, and the Kačerov depot. The set of proposed measures includes the installation of photovoltaic power plants with a total output of almost 1.5 MWp, the modernization of heat and cooling sources, the use of waste heat, advanced measurement and control systems, the insulation of buildings, the modernization of lighting and ventilation, and other steps leading to a long-term reduction in the energy intensity of operations. The project will bring the Prague Public Transport Company guaranteed savings in energy and operating costs, while increasing the energy self-sufficiency and sustainability of its infrastructure.
ENVIROS participated in the preparation of the project as an expert partner in the field of energy savings and EPC, using investment subsidies. The company’s involvement mainly included the conceptual design of energy measures, expert analyses, and support in the preparation of the project so that it could be implemented using the EPC method, meet the conditions for subsidies, and bring maximum effect in terms of savings and return on investment. The APES award confirms the quality of the project preparation and ENVIROS’s long-term experience with complex energy projects in the public sector.
“We see this award primarily as confirmation of the quality and extraordinary scope of the entire project—and also as recognition of the courage of the Prague Public Transport Company to embark on such a complex modernization using the EPC method. It’s great to be part of a project that has a real impact on the long-term sustainability and energy self-sufficiency of key urban infrastructure,” says Jan Hanuš, CEO of ENVIROS.
ENVIROS has long been active in the field of energy savings, decarbonization, and sustainable energy management. Its participation in the winning project of the Prague Public Transport Company follows on from a number of projects in which the company has been involved in recent years and confirms its strong role in the preparation and implementation of projects in the fields of energy, the environment, ESG, and sustainability, including securing their financing from subsidy programs.
